Abstract: At unsaturating concentration of 2-oxoglutarate, ATP markedly inhibited the adrenal oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex activity due to chelation of magnesium ions required for activity of the enzyme. At the same time, ATP opposed competitively the activating influence of a positive effector ADP.
