Metabolism of different phospholipid fractions in neurons and neuroglia during myelinization

Abstract: Fractions, enriched with neurones and neuroglia, were isolated from brain cortex of 10, 20 and 30 days old rats using preparative ultracentrifugation in sucrose and Ficoil density gradient. Metabolism of phospholipids in neurones and neuroglia during the period of intensive myelinization was shown to have a number of specific properties resulting from the functional diversity of the cell populations in the central nervous system.
