Abstract: Antiviral activity and molecular mass of interferons, produced by L929 cells in mixtures containing blood sera from newborn and adult mice, were studied. L929 cells secreted distinctly lower amount of interferon in presence of the newborn mice blood serum as compared with the preparations containing adult mice blood serum. The decrease in the antiviral activity was shown to depend on alteration in the ratio of two molecular components constituting interferon: at the same time, the component with molecular mass of 28 kD was markedly decreased.
