Abstract: Proteolytic enzymes, particularly collagenase, are involved in development of eye cornea chronic ulcers. Analysis of lacrimal fluid obtained from the patients enabled to find not only the collagenase activity but and serine enzymes exhibiting BAEE esterase activity. Plasmin, blood plasma and tissue kallikreins regulated permeability of capillaries in conjunctiva and lacrimal gland as well as they activated latent collagenase. Studies of BAEE esterase activity in lacrimal fluid of the patients are required for prescription of adequate pathogenetic treatment.
