Level of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate and activity of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase in hepatocyte suspensions in streptozotocin diabetes

Abstract: Content of fructose-2,6-bisphosphate was drastically decreased (about 5-fold) in hepatocyte suspension obtained from rats with streptozotocin-induced diabetes, as compared with that of control animals. At the same time, activity of fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase was increased 2-fold in these hepatocytes. Incubation mixture of the hepatocytes from the diabetes impaired animals contained only low amounts of lactate.
