Abstract: Long-term hypokinesia is accompanied by changes in the activity of Mg(2+) and 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP)-stimulated ATPases of rat brain and liver mitochondria. These changes are phasic and especially pronounced at periods characterised by most pronounced metabolic alterations Treatment of animals with GABA and piracetam tends to normalise the enzyme activities.
