Abstract: Data obtained suggest the existence of regulation mechanism controllingparameters of thyroid status, that does not require any modification of thyroid glandsecretory function. The realisation of this mechanism can involve hormone-depositingfunction of blood erythrocytes, which is sensitive to a) change of regionar orsystemic pH and b) change of hematocrit. Results of the present study indicate thatmammalian erythrocytes are able to bind considerable quantities of T3 and T4and, T3 binding is preferable.
