Abstract: A secretorysystem based on L-form cells of Proteus mirabiliswas developed for production of native Bacilluslicheniformis glutamylendopeptidase precursor never formerly available. The producedprecursor was stable per se under physiologicalconditions and in presence of trypsin and glutamylendopeptidase from B.intermedius. Complete conversion of theprecursor to the mature glutamylendopeptidase was performed by bacillar metalloproteasesand subtilisin. The artificially processed glutamylendopeptidase was purified by affinitychromatography on bacitracin-sepharose. Native tertiary structure in the purifiedglutamylendopeptidase was confirmed by demonstrating its activity towards a specificchromogenous peptide substrate.
