Species identification on the basis of cytogenetic results is an important issue of genetics, molecular biology, and phylogenetic studies. The use of various cytogenetic techniques allows obtaining a species-specific sites of rRNA- genes regions of chromosome. However, the deciphering of this pattern, i.e., species identification based on the amount, distribution, and staining intensity of sites of rRNA- genes is a difficult problem. Perspectives of artificial neural networks (ANN) for processing and interpretation of the results of cytogenetic analysis are demonstrated
