Carnosine (β-analyn-L-histidine) exhibits various biological effects underlying its potential therapeutic use. In ophthalmology carnosine was effective in treatment of corneal metabolic diseases, senile cataract. It accelerated cornea reepithelization after photorephraction ceratoectomia.
