Enzymatic electrodes for the analysis of blood metabolites in normal conditions and in various pathological states

The construction and properties of enzyme electrodes used in medicine and biology for determination of glucose, galactose, urea, creatinine, amino acids, uric acid, xanthine, bilirubin and cholesterol, lactate and ethanol are reviewed. Advantages and disadvantages of enzyme electrodes are analyzed. Use of the enzyme electrodes in clinical medicine is discussed.
