Distinct and generalized decrease in sensitivity of alpha 2-adrenoreactive system, pronounced decrease of beta 1- and beta 2-but not of alpha 1-adrenoreactivity were observed in children with acute rheumatic fever. After cupping of the rheumatic attack and restoration of circulation functions impairments of the alpha 2-adrenoreactivity (but not of beta 1- and beta 2-adrenoreactivities) were decreased however without complete normalization. Absence of a number of sympathogenic reactions appears to occur due to impairment of the adrenoreactive system sensitivity even though accumulation of catecholamines as found in biological fluids, as a result of which catecholamine-effector uncoupling elevated.
