Combination of two procedures--pseudoligand affinity chromatography on Cibacron blue agarose and usual gel filtration on TSK HW-60 enabled to separate successfully blood plasma alpha 2-macroglobulin from immunoglobulin M, haptoglobins and low molecular weight proteins. The preparation of alpha 2-macroglobulin obtained exhibited high inhibitory activity towards proteases.
