The activity of carboxypeptidase H was inhibited dissimilarly in some brain regions of rats after combined effects of ethanol and immobilization stress. This dissimilar effect of ethanol and stress on activity of soluble and membrane-bound carboxypeptidases was detected in the midbrain, hippocamp, and striatum. The role of carboxypeptidase H in the stress-protective effect of ethanol is discussed.
