The effect of human blood serum and several serum antioxidants (ascorbate, alpha-tocopherol, urate, albumin, transferrin and ceruloplasmin) on latent period and chemiluminescence (CL) intencity of hemoglobin-hydrogen peroxide-luminol system has been investigated. The addition of blood serum and antioxidants to the system increased the latent period and decreased CL intencity. The antioxidants had been taken in concentrations caused 50% inhibition of CL intencity of model system had not effected on the luminol photoluminescence. The possible mechanism of action of the antioxidants is discussed.
