Role of disorders in biogenic amine metabolism in the pathogenesis of botulin poisoning

A depotentiating effect of prednisolone, benactyzine, reserpine, propranolole and large doses of serotonin on the development of the intoxication was shown to occur in combination with inhibition of the biogenic amines accumulation in various tissues of cats with botulinic paresis. The same phenomenon was observed in intoxicated animals maintained without pharmacological treatment.
