After exposure of rats in oxygen atmosphere under pressure of 3 kgs/cm2 within 2 hrs phosphorylating respiration, respiratory control and the ratio ADP/O were decreased, while time of phosphorylation was increased in mitochondria of brain cortex. Content of 11-hydroxycorticosteroids was increased in blood plasma. Reaction of adrenal cortex to hyperbaric oxygenation was inhibited, if hydrocortisone was administered into animals within 1 hr before the treatment; in this case the patterns of mitochondrial function studied were similar to normal values.
