Botulinic toxin inhibited oxygen utilization in fast, slow and mixed muscles during the paralytic step of general intoxication as well as in dynamics of local intoxication without any manifestations of hypoxic hypoxia. The data obtained suggest that the tissue hypoxia caused by botulinic toxin is not responsible for the primary impairment of innervation of the respiratory muscles and for insufficiency of the outer respiration.
