Apo-B containing lipoproteins obtained after precipitation with heparin and calcium as well as very low (LPVLD) and low density lipoproteins (LPLD) produced using preparative scale ultracentrifugation had identical chemoluminescent properties. However, LPVLD are involved only slightly in total chemoluminescence of apo-B containing lipoproteins due to their low concentration in blood serum. In blood serum there is the factor having the quenching effect on the chemoluminescence and also exhibiting the antioxidant activity. Subfraction 3 of high density lipoproteins from patients with atherosclerosis differed from the analogous subfraction of donors by its chemoluminescent properties.
